Lots of Moving!!

by Meg on November 27, 2010

Sorry for all the noise and then sudden radio silence!  I promise freebies will resume in a day or two!!!!

The reason for the silence was that lots of shaking and moving has been happening.  With all the traffic that has been coming to Ocean Wide Designs, my website’s hosting provider slowed down my bandwidth speed, causing some people to not even be able to load the site!  So, over all of the Thanksgiving madness, I was working feverishly to move my hosting account to a new provider that would best suit our needs and pocketbooks!

The other move that is happening is that I’m moving my designs to a different shop, I can’t wait to tell you all about it!  Soon you’ll be able to get exclusive designs from me that you wont find anywhere else, not even here at OceanWideDesigns.com!

While the dust settles down, if any funky things happen, please let me know!  My new host was amazing enough to move everything for me, but there still might be some hiccups.

Still Alive!

by Meg on September 25, 2010

OR-4803 OR-4806

Things have been crazy, hence the lack of updates.  Computer problems, husband getting sick, me getting sick, both of us getting food poisoning, planning a long road trip, work, etc.  Between boughts of migraines, I’m getting as much work done as I can.  In the meantime, I’ve picked up crocheting again.  I needed something I can do with my mind off, and in small amounts.  Here’s the project link, it’ll be perfect for our 12+ hour road trip up north, 15+ on the way back.

Time for tylenol & lunch!

My Honest Heart

by Meg on August 20, 2010

Today was one of those under-the-weather kind of days that ended amazingly.  When I got home after working at my part time job for the first time in several weeks, I was exhausted.  It’s one of those jobs where you are in trouble if you don’t work regularly.  It took me three times the amount of time it normally would of taken me to get things done.

Thankfully my mother in law was also working with me today, that gave me the extra umph I needed to finish.

I really wanted to get home to play with a kit that was gifted to me last night by a very sweet person.  But after that grueling morning & afternoon filling out reports — all of the creativity was zapped out of me.  So, I spent some time organizing my files & cleaning up my hard drive.  I restarted my laptop and I received the push I needed — I wanted a new desktop image.

August/September Desktop

The name of the kit I received last night, Abide, inspired the choice of verse for my desktop — so of course I had to use it to make the desktop!!

This is one of my favorite verses — it’s always so encouraging!  In this last year, I had a lot of tough decisions to make, but through a lot of prayer and abiding, it was done for me.  I had strength in knowing that by drawing myself closer to Christ & keeping His words in my heart, my actions were ones that reflected Him & His love.

Tonight I had great conversations with my in-laws.  My mother in law & I talked about a lot of things — including OWD.  I’ve been battling an auto-immune disease the last few years, and it’s made it hard to do things like work & finish school.  Now that school is under my belt, it’s time to really get down to work.  That’s why starting OWD has been a blessing — I can work from anywhere, on my own time, without anyone to answer to!

Of course, it’s been hard to get started & market myself — but I’m learning & making strides.  I guess the hardest part so far has been getting A LOT of interest in my services — but very few clients actually committing themselves to hiring me.  My MIL has been a great help — she’s given me so many ideas on top of her encouragement :) It’s been a huge blessing for me to have family & friends who not only support me — but share my heart & vision.

It’s my desire for Ocean Wide Designs to be something that will flourish & allow me to bless others through it.  I not only started it as a solution to provide us with some income, but as a ministry.  If you haven’t noticed, I provide a discount for non-profits to help them get themselves more exposure online.  Everyone is entitled to a website that meets not only their design needs, but their functional needs as well, without taking a chunk from their budgets.

Tonight I’m being blatantly honest about who I am, that I’m a Christ follower, and what I’m all about.  This is my honest heart!  I’m a flawed sinner trying to follow in Christ’s footsteps!  I’m not being political or religious, I’m about faith & a relationship with my savior.  Take me or leave me, but that’s who I am.

New Site Design

by Meg on July 24, 2010

I couldn’t resist.  I had to do it.  I had even written several new posts to share photos from the Santa Cruz breakwater… but every time I found myself fiddling around wanting to change things up.  So here you go!

I’ll still be playing around with this layout a bit, I haven’t used this framework in a long time — and it usually takes me awhile to be satisfied.

Until I finish a post with some actual photos, have fun refreshing the pages to see the different header images!

Grand Opening!

by Meg on July 12, 2010

Note: Scroll past this post for the most recent ones, this one will stay at the top until the Grand Opening Promotional is over.

It’s almost a month later than I had planned, but the website for Ocean Wide Designs is finally done! Here you are! It’s still going to take me some time to gather all of my photos and design work to put into my portfolio, so please bear with me. I should of realized it wouldn’t be easy to launch two new businesses & websites right after getting married.

As part of the Grand Opening celebration, I am doing photo sessions without a sitting fee! The only thing you have to pay for are the prints and/or cd of the session & agree to allow me to use photos from the session on the website. I’m still working on a fee schedule for prints, but that should be done soon.

So, for now, just poke around & take a look at what I have up so far! If you didn’t already notice, I would refresh the page a few times to see the randomized photos!
