Even though the Sierras are still concealed from forest fire smog, it’s still beautiful out here.

This summer, on our way home from our honeymoon on Catalina Island, Jeff and I were able to stay a few days at my grandparent’s ranch just off of the coast.
When my grandad was planning his retirement, he decided to purchase land in a small valley where he was stationed while my dad was in grade school (I think.) He did this all from D.C., where he was going to have to drag my grandma kicking and screaming back to California. She was really attached to her friends in Virginia. I didn’t know this part of the story until we visited them this summer!
After getting their parcel of land (that’s a story in itself!) my grandad hired a friend’s son who just graduated with some degree in ag to plan and manage the planting of their oranges. This all happened in the early to mid 90′s, if I remember right. Now, their oranges are so sweet and so desired, they’re sent off to Japan. We were there a month or so before their harvest, it was beautiful!
The photo is of one of the trees near the house that they reserve for themselves. I used my iPhone to snap it as we were leaving to go camp in Big Sur, of course Grandad had to send us off with goodies! I’ve never ever gone away from a visit to them without a bag full of oranges and avocados.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to get any scrapping done! Tonight during Survivor, I knocked out this page for the O Stash challenge at O Scraps!
I need to get out and take some more photos — I’ve been stuck inside for awhile, I’m running out of things to scrap!
Aside from working and trying to keep healthy — I did some house cleaning here at the site. I’ve cleaned up the sidebars some, and I’m planning on making some larger changes soon. Notice that I added a link to my Ravelry profile — add me! I’ve been really crocheting up a storm.
The blanket is about 50% done, factoring in the work to piece it together. I attempted to get some decent photos today, but had super poor lighting with the overcast skies. My goal is to have the blanket done by the end of this week — errr early start of next week. I guess for the road trip I’m going to have to break into my stash to make some scarves or fingerless gloves. Thank goodness for my iPhone and being able to access patterns wherever I have a signal!
Tomorrow morning is my first Ravelry group meet up! I’m excited, it’s been so long since I’ve been able to knit or crochet, and even longer since I got to socialize with those who do the same. How long is long? Before even dating Jeff. I’ll definitely be pumping out octagons with the ladies tomorrow

I buckled down & finally finished editing most of the 300+ photos from my cousin D’s daughter’s birthday party. Her littlest one is darling
D totally out did herself with tiaras for the girls!
The birthday girl also outdid herself by dumping three+ bottles of bubbles on herself!
D got a cake from Cold Stone Creamery that matched A’s shirt! The kids’ plates were also the same PF monkey
Click the link below to see the rest of the party!

When I saw today’s theme over at Photo Friday, I knew one of the cake shots from my cousin’s birthday party would be “warm” enough!
