My Honest Heart

by Meg on August 20, 2010

Today was one of those under-the-weather kind of days that ended amazingly.  When I got home after working at my part time job for the first time in several weeks, I was exhausted.  It’s one of those jobs where you are in trouble if you don’t work regularly.  It took me three times the amount of time it normally would of taken me to get things done.

Thankfully my mother in law was also working with me today, that gave me the extra umph I needed to finish.

I really wanted to get home to play with a kit that was gifted to me last night by a very sweet person.  But after that grueling morning & afternoon filling out reports — all of the creativity was zapped out of me.  So, I spent some time organizing my files & cleaning up my hard drive.  I restarted my laptop and I received the push I needed — I wanted a new desktop image.

August/September Desktop

The name of the kit I received last night, Abide, inspired the choice of verse for my desktop — so of course I had to use it to make the desktop!!

This is one of my favorite verses — it’s always so encouraging!  In this last year, I had a lot of tough decisions to make, but through a lot of prayer and abiding, it was done for me.  I had strength in knowing that by drawing myself closer to Christ & keeping His words in my heart, my actions were ones that reflected Him & His love.

Tonight I had great conversations with my in-laws.  My mother in law & I talked about a lot of things — including OWD.  I’ve been battling an auto-immune disease the last few years, and it’s made it hard to do things like work & finish school.  Now that school is under my belt, it’s time to really get down to work.  That’s why starting OWD has been a blessing — I can work from anywhere, on my own time, without anyone to answer to!

Of course, it’s been hard to get started & market myself — but I’m learning & making strides.  I guess the hardest part so far has been getting A LOT of interest in my services — but very few clients actually committing themselves to hiring me.  My MIL has been a great help — she’s given me so many ideas on top of her encouragement :) It’s been a huge blessing for me to have family & friends who not only support me — but share my heart & vision.

It’s my desire for Ocean Wide Designs to be something that will flourish & allow me to bless others through it.  I not only started it as a solution to provide us with some income, but as a ministry.  If you haven’t noticed, I provide a discount for non-profits to help them get themselves more exposure online.  Everyone is entitled to a website that meets not only their design needs, but their functional needs as well, without taking a chunk from their budgets.

Tonight I’m being blatantly honest about who I am, that I’m a Christ follower, and what I’m all about.  This is my honest heart!  I’m a flawed sinner trying to follow in Christ’s footsteps!  I’m not being political or religious, I’m about faith & a relationship with my savior.  Take me or leave me, but that’s who I am.
